A 20-year-old woman from Taiwan was shocked to discover over 300 stones in her kidneys. Admitted to the hospital for fever and back pain, doctors described the stones as “small steamed buns”. Kidney stones form when substances like calcium, oxalate, and phosphorus concentrate in the urine, leading to crystal formation. Factors like dehydration, diet choices, and urinary tract abnormalities contribute to stone formation. Bubble tea, also known as boba tea, a popular Taiwanese drink is said to be the reason behind it.
