Mt of darkness: Volcano which throws out gold everyday

Mount Erebus in Antarctica, the southernmost active volcano, stands out by not only being active in the extreme cold but also emitting micro-crystals of gold. Known for the tragic 1979 Air New Zealand flight crash, Erebus was named by British explorer Sir James Clark Ross after a Greek deity. Despite bleak conditions, this volcano holds geological and historical significance.
