With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, many of us are anticipating receiving big bouquets of red roses from our partners. But have you ever wondered what to do with all those roses after the occasion? Fear not, plant-based cook and content creator Carleigh Bodrug recently shared a delightful way to repurpose culinary-grade roses for making a Rose Water Latte. Yes, you read that right. In a recent Instagram post, Carleigh begins the process by delicately removing the petals from the roses. She then placed them in a pot with water and heated the mixture until the water turned a rich red colour. After that, she separated the rose petals from the water. Next, Carleigh suggests using the rose-infused water to create a delightful scent throughout the home.

After that, Carleigh shared her recipe for the rose water latte. She starts by heating milk in a pot and adding a splash of rose water and a touch of honey. Carleigh then uses a handheld frother to create a frothy texture in the milk. Finally, she pours the delicious concoction into a cup.
In her caption, the content creator writes, “ROSE WATER & ROSE WATER LATTE (make sure you’re using CULINARY OR FOOD GRADE fresh or dry roses). To make rose water, simmer 1 to 1 1/2 cups of dried or fresh rose petals in 2 cups of water for 30 to 45 minutes, until infused. Drain and compost the pedals, reserving the “rose water” for use. I like to use 1/2 teaspoon in my diffuser for a rose scent. IF YOUR ROSES ARE CULINARY GRADE/ORGANIC, you can also use the rose water to make a rose water latte (recipe in my new book) & as a nice drizzle on fruit salad.”
