Kalki 2898 AD,” featuring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani, Kamal Haasan, and others, has completed its censorship process ahead of its anticipated release in just over a week. Directed by Nag Ashwin, known for his National Award-winning film “Mahanati,” the sci-fi epic received a ‘U/A’ certificate from the CBFC with a runtime of approximately 3 hours. During the screening, the 3D version impressed officials with its innovative visuals and Ashwin’s visionary direction, sparking talks of a potential sequel due to its compelling cliffhanger ending. Reportedly the most expensive Indian film made, with a budget around 600 crores, “Kalki 2898 AD” is produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and will debut on June 27 across multiple languages including Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Tamil. The storyline depicts a dystopian future where people in Kashi struggle amid resource redirection to the Complex, while Deepika’s character, SUM-80 or Maa, carries a child speculated to be Kalki, guarded by Bachchan’s Aswatthama against Kamal Haasan’s Supreme Yaskin/Kali, while Prabhas portrays Bhairava, tasked with her retrieval.
