Researchers unearthed a fossil of the world’s largest worm lizard, Terastiodontosaurus marcelosanchez, in Tunisia. Dating back 50 million years, this giant amphisbaenian measured over three feet long with a five-centimeter skull. Its powerful jaws and specialized teeth were adapted for crushing snail shells, a feeding strategy still employed by related species today.
