High blood pressure, often dubbed as a silent killer, claims over 10 million lives every year. Several factors contribute to the growth of the disease ranging from lifestyle habits to underlying chronic health complications. However, experts recommend that changing diet and lifestyle habits play a crucial role in bringing down elevated blood pressure. “An estimated 1.28 billion adults aged 30–79 years worldwide have hypertension, most (two-thirds) living in low- and middle-income countries,” the World Health Organisation (WHO) says.
