What Is Loco Moco? Where Is The Origin Of The Dish?

Loco Moco finds its roots in Hawaiian cuisine. It falls under contemporary Hawaiian dishes and was reportedly created at a restaurant named Lincoln Grill in Hawaii, in the year 1949. As per legends, the dish came into being when a teenage customer asked the restaurant owner for an alternative to a sandwich that was inexpensive as well. The dish originally comprised rice, a hamburger patty, and topped with brown gravy. The egg was later added to the dish.

We got you a veg version of the ultimate Hawaiian comfort food Loco Moco, shared by Chef Guntas Sethi on her Instagram handle.

She first made the rice by cooking garlic, red chilli flakes, spinach, boiled rice, salt, and butter together.

Next, she prepares the gravy by sauteeing garlic and onion until they turn brown. Next, Chef Guntas adds mushrooms, cooks them, and adds salt, butter, corn flour mixed water, Italian seasoning, soy sauce, black pepper, and vegetable stock, and cooked the gravy.

Finally, Chef Guntas heats some oil in a pan, adds ginger, onion, and a cup of veggies, and cooks with Italian seasoning and salt. Next, she adds some boiled potatoes and binds them into a soft patty.

All you need to do now is assemble – place a bowl of rice, put the patty on top, drizzle gravy at last, and devour.
