Why are aeroplanes painted white?

While most airlines paint their planes white for temperature control, visibility, and maintenance ease, Air New Zealand has embraced a striking black livery. This tradition, which began in 2007, celebrates New Zealand’s national color and identity. The airline maintains that the black paint doesn’t affect the aircraft’s performance and even operates the world’s largest black-painted commercial plane, a Boeing 777-300ER.
