Creepy crawlies in packaged or restaurant food have become alarmingly common nowadays. Not long ago, hostellers complained of dead bugs in their mess food. Meals served by IRCTC Railways have also come under the radar after passengers found insects. But, deliberately planting dead bugs in restaurant dishes for free meals is something that’s unheard of. A recent social media post claims that a Gurgaon-based couple revealed they planted dead flies in restaurant food to get free meals, just for fun.
The social media user wrote on the post that a middle-aged couple allegedly used a dead fly to avoid paying bills for their food in upscale restaurants. The post was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user Udit Bhandari. In an elaborate note on the micro-blogging platform, he wrote, “Met a middle-aged couple at a party who revealed something quite disgusting. Apparently, it’s something they do for fun as they didn’t seem tight on money. They have on several occasions gone out to dine at 5-star restaurants in Delhi/Gurgaon and carried with them a dead fly! Yes, a dead fly!”

“Halfway into their meal, they would quietly slip this into their food & then create a huge fuss over it. The management in a bid to placate them would either not charge for that dish or in most cases make their entire meal free. They were proud to share his ‘hack’ for getting free meals and said have done this many many times,” he added.

X-users were outraged by the incident and slammed the couple for their questionable actions. “I am glad that I haven’t met anyone like them. I thought these types of people existed only in reel-life not real. You should start filtering your circle and the people you meet,” advised an individual.
